OH CANADA!

The Hills have landed in Canada! I must say that after living in OH CANADA! for four months has me longing for the good ole USA. I miss things that I was able to get in the US that are not available here. Being from the south seafood is a staple and to eat seafood anywhere else is just bland. These people have never heard of seasonings. We miss Cracker Barrel and all that they offer. We ate breakfast at Denny's only because it was recognizable. We saw that they had grits on the menu, which my Mike promplty ordered. We even had a little laugh when the waitress asked us if we knew what they were! But the hope of having something that reminded us of home were soon dashed when she placed a bowl of unfinished grits on the table in front of him. He quickly asked her for a pot of hot water and he finished them at the table himself. Oh how I miss the cheesy grits that are offered back home! the onther thing that I have to get used to is the monopoly looking money that they use. The colors and the plastic on the higher amount bills makes me think of play money than of anything of any worth. Then there are the coins. The dollar is not a paper bill like it is in the states but a coin with a picture of loons imprinted on them. This is called a Looney and the two dollar coin is called a Tooney. Still think that is a joke.

Other than that the landscape is quite nice. The weather has been hot and humid, which reminds me of home. We have been taking Oz around to play in parks and getting a look around the city. If only I could get my photos to post. This is an experience and I hope that Oz will grow up and have these times to remember. I can't wait for it to snow so he can really get the full effect of the cold winter. Virginia only gave him a taste so I can't wait for him to be able to go sledding.

I can't believe they gave you unfinished grits! Why have it on the menu at all if they don't know how to make them? When they saw Mike pour the hot water on them were they like, "Oh! That's how you do it."? HA! We just had shrimp and grits for dinner last night, we loaded up on grits before coming up here so I don't even know if they sell it or not. Can't wait to see some pics.

They didn't even notice Mike doing it but I wonder if the waitress told the chef in the back what was going on and they marked us for spit in our next meal. lol I was joking with him that he ought to go in the back and show em how its done. I think that we can find them up here or at least have someone send them to us. We don't eat them on a regular basis but when we get a hankerin for some grits it would be nice to have some.
