Wacky Weather!
This weather has now gotten to me! The quick change from hot to cold has given me a tickle in the back of my throat and pressure to my head. Geeze! I thought Mobile was bad but it has nothing on the drastic temperature changes here in Sherwood Park. This weekend is suppose to produce low temps but I wonder how long before I have to unpack the shorts and tanks again. Can't wait till it stabalizes and I get to know exactly what to wear.

OH CANADA!
The Hills have landed in Canada! I must say that after living in OH CANADA! for four months has me longing for the good ole USA. I miss things that I was able to get in the US that are not available here. Being from the south seafood is a staple and to eat seafood anywhere else is just bland. These people have never heard of seasonings. We miss Cracker Barrel and all that they offer. We ate breakfast at Denny's only because it was recognizable. We saw that they had grits on the menu, which my Mike promplty ordered. We even had a little laugh when the waitress asked us if we knew what they were! But the hope of having something that reminded us of home were soon dashed when she placed a bowl of unfinished grits on the table in front of him. He quickly asked her for a pot of hot water and he finished them at the table himself. Oh how I miss the cheesy grits that are offered back home! the onther thing that I have to get used to is the monopoly looking money that they use. The colors and the plastic on the higher amount bills makes me think of play money than of anything of any worth. Then there are the coins. The dollar is not a paper bill like it is in the states but a coin with a picture of loons imprinted on them. This is called a Looney and the two dollar coin is called a Tooney. Still think that is a joke.
Other than that the landscape is quite nice. The weather has been hot and humid, which reminds me of home. We have been taking Oz around to play in parks and getting a look around the city. If only I could get my photos to post. This is an experience and I hope that Oz will grow up and have these times to remember. I can't wait for it to snow so he can really get the full effect of the cold winter. Virginia only gave him a taste so I can't wait for him to be able to go sledding.

Virginia is for Lovers
So we have made it to Virginia from Florida. Whew! what a trip but man has it been worth it. We are loving this area. We have a job prospect in Canada but if that doesn't pan out then this place would not be a bad place to settle for a couple of years. So far the weather has been tolerable and the people are really friendly. We went to a Mexican resturant a block down from our hotel and I must say that it was the best Mexican food I had eaten since I lived in Southern California. Not only that we had a blast while there. We haven't been this relaxed in a long while. It is nice to finally get to a place that we feel comfortable in without having to worry about the heat among other things. We are still trying for another baby but no success stories yet. We are crossing our fingers that this will be the place and time for an addition.

Not Having Fun In Florida
Okay, so we have been living here for a few months now and I do not understand all the hype about this place. I am missing the convience of living so close to my family, especially when I really need some entertainment ideas for Oz. On top of that I think that I am having some problems with depression. I can't seem to get motivated and focused. I believe that this stems from the fact that we have been trying for another baby with no luck for almost a year. I don't want to tell any of my family about this because I don't want anyone getting their hopes up especially my own. Each month we try and at the end of each month that big red X on the calendar calls me a failure. I am starting to believe that I was only meant to have one. It is a little disappointing since I feel so out numbered. My husband tries to make me feel better by telling me about all the accomplishments that I have made in my life but I still feel the failure. I really don't want to say that I'm calling it quits but it looks that way.

Getting Ready
Oz has a birthday coming up and I can't believe that he is almost one year old. Time has just flown by. He now stands up (holding on to something of course), crawls like there is no tomorrow, and is starting to do word association. By that I mean he now knows that mama and dada are people and not just sounds. The other day Mike left the living room and Oz followed him to the door. We have up baby gates so that is as far as he is able to go. When he couldn't see dada anymore he began calling for him. It was so funny to see him craning his neck around the door frame and yelling "DADA". Soon we will be having a little party here for him. We are expecting only a couple of friends and some cousins. The theme of course is Halloween and we are getting excited for it. I will have to learn how to put some pictures on here so I can post the party. I going to make him a pumpkin cake and I think I will be starting to make it three days before the party. I am hoping that it works out well. On another note, Oz is doing so well in daycare. Today he waved goodbye to me as I left. It was like "okay mom, see ya later, got things to do." I got a little emotional to have him just wave instead of cry for me when I left. I guess it had to happen sometime. I dread him getting to the age where he is embrassed by me in front of his friends.

Daycare Days
Well Oz has been admitted into daycare and has been there for almost two weeks. He has obtained his first real cold and is being a little cranky for the girls at the center. Yesterday he got x-rays done of his hips and right hand. Those of you who know us know that he has a finger that is a little bit bigger than the rest. His doctor is wanting to rule out a genetic disease that could give him problems in the future. He has already gotten blood tests done and on Monday he will be given an ultra sound on his kidneys. Apparently this syndrome they are looking for causes tumors on the kidneys. We are hoping that this is not what he has. In other news, I am still looking for a job and will be going back to Northrop and Grumman in October. I hope that they will hire me so that we can get another income. Mike is still working there and is looking into getting a second job that will help out money wise. So far our life has consisted of baby, school, work, and now daycare. Living conditions are going to change hopefully soon. We have broken down and decided to look for an apartment or townhouse. We are looking at a couple of places but I have to be working first for us to do that. Well that is the short and long of it. I hope that I can keep this up.
